I didn’t get in the third place play off yesterday. My view it is just a non game that neither team really want to play after the disappointment of missing out on the final.

Argentina needed penalties to get past Holland the other day in what was  tense game and we see it all come to a climax today as Germany play Argentina for the coveted prize. It seems like an age since England had any involvement and also an age since we had a real decent games, whilst the group stages were exciting, much of the knockout phase has been dire with the odd exception – Belgium v USA in particular.

Germany go in as favourites and have drifted from the ridiculous odds on quotes which were just a complete over reaction to the Brazil game. Yes they scored 7 and played well but Brazil were useless a point that was well and truly hammered home in their 3-0 defeat last night. the Dutch didn’t even get out of first gear last night and brazil area far cry from the teams of old that we all grew up admiring.

Germany struggled against the likes of Algeria and I am not so sure they are the smooth oiled machine everyone believes.

Argentina have 11 clean sheets in 13 and at the prices I am going to take them to win it. I will back Argentina in 90 minutes at 3.6, I will back them small also for extra time at 17 and also penalties at 12.

I do think it will be a tight game and could well be decided by a moment of magic from either side.

I am not going to go into any exotic bets but I read a quote somewhere of Muller and Messi both to score at 10/1 which I thought was a fair price.
