Hi all,

I want to create a thread/place in the forum for people to share their goals within the wider group so that they can get advise on improving their goals (if a member wants such help), but more importantly, sharing them in the forum allows us to help each other by holding ourselves accountable for our goals.

I like to set a big end goal. I break that down into milestone goals – things I will need to achieve my end goal. And lastly small Journey goals to help me feel like I am making progress. My end goal won’t change (certainly not for a few years!), but each season, I will change my milestone goal and journey goals to support it. Here are my end goal and milestone + journey goals for the current 2020/ 21 season.

End Goal;

To pay off my mortgage with betting profits

Milestone Goal (this season);

Focus on the process, mindset and discipline side of betting

Journey Goals;

  • Set up an automated bot system to place my Ultimate bets for me. Have this in place by season start. COMPLETE
  • Do NOT check any progress of profit and loss until at least Jan 1st 2021. COMPLETE
  • Focus on being consistent with the betting and following the Tuesday/Friday process of finding bets and placing them with the bot for the whole season. ONGOING
  • Only focus on what is in my plan for the season; FTS Ultimate systems and HT CS Lays. ONGOING

Feel free to add your goals below if you think this is useful. I work in Human Resources so I know how to set effective goals. Happy to help if anyone would like.

Cheers.

Thanks for posting this, as I personally think goal setting is an important notion. I have recently introduced the concept of goals into my whole life, not just betting & trading and it has helped really motivate me to achieve better outcomes. The way that you have broken it down into journey and milestone goals is also an important facet of the goals process. All in all, an excellent post !! Here is looking forward to 2021…and hopefully some betting profits !

My goal/hope is to not be stalked so badly by sad little losers online with no life, no friends and no guts.

I know they’re reading this now (wave) so my message is to get a life or come meet me for a chat (pigs might fly!) LaughLaughLaugh

To contribute to this valid thread a bit better, below are some of my ambitions for the next 12 months:

– Finish accumulating samples for my latest batch of trials and progress them to “real” stakes once a decent sample size and P score is obtained

– Do some manual analysis and data entry on previous “failed” trials to see where any improvements could be made

– Ensure I do all my data entry and record keeping every Monday so I’m not playing catch up months later!

– Start live test stake testing on my current project (ongoing with a friend) and speak to my developer on how to automate

– Ensure I do at least 3-4 walks a week!!

– Continue with my current gym program “Starting Strength” which is focussing on progressive overload each week on Bench/Squat/Deadlift/Press. No beach body this year. Staying anabolic all year (energy surplus)

I have a major goal this year and its to lose weight, the battle begins on Monday 4th, I am looking to initially lose 3 stone and will see where it takes me once I get to that goal, I will be simply calorie counting, I will also continue to cycle which is something that I started in the summer and will be looking to increase the amount of cycling that I do.

From a punting point of view I am looking to continue with my current processes and systems and maintain discipline

Good man. I would highly recommend getting a few High Protein recipe eBooks from Scott Baptie. Lots of tasty and more importantly high protein and filling healthy ideas for dinner. Don’t sit and eat salads its just ridiculous. Sounds like you have the right idea anyway, fat loss is just an energy deficit issue over a sustained period of time.

Can personally recommend the High Protein ebooks from Scott Baptie, I purchased his ebooks in September and lost over 2 stone by December. Very, Very easy to follow and very family orientated recipies – the wife and kids ate the same meals as me for Dinner so made the whole process much easier. Had a break over Christmas, have put a bit on ( 4lbs )  but am back on the 30 day program again.

I think that’s the key really, lower calorie meals dont have to be salad and brown rice and salmon fillets etc. It seems to be a female rationale that to lose weight you have to eat unusual and torturous meals, you really don’t. You just eat smaller portions and slightly lower calorie versions of what you might normally eat and as you say the whole family can eat it because it’s not “diet food”. Your 4lbs will very likely just be water and glycogen mostly, very hard to gain that much fat, even over a month! Good work though.
