hi

So I’ve finally joined FTS. I’ve always just spent time searching and looking for some kind of database/stats site/ inplay gimmick anything to try to help me.

Took me many years to realise that less is more. But even then sometime when the ‘less is more’ theory makes more then normal I get carried away.

What I’m looking for from FTS is to have a few systems that I can follow that can make a steady profit and if in 6 months I see  £100 profit that will be progress.

Any tips or advice?

it is my first year with Ultimate and I have done OK, certainly ahead in terms of profit, I have now put all systems on hold until we get some sensible football back, what I mean by that is football with crowds etc as I do believe this is having an effect on results, probably more so the 1×2 markets. I have learnt a lot during my first year especially about myself and what I am comfortable with in terms of liabilities, laying the draw for me is not a comfortable market to be in albeit that I have a system that is very profitable, its just uncomfortable when Real Madrid concede an equaliser in the 80th minute!

I would suggest that you look to build just a couple of systems and stick to them for a whole season, don’t try to have loads of systems as it will just bog you down and confuse you (less is more) I certainly had too many systems this year and I will be cutting them down to the bones for when we get going again

Also I know this has been mentioned before but try to be contrarian and go against the crowd, its absolutely amazing what this approach can throw up. Watch Ian’s videos and ask questions on here there are loads of very knowledgeable folks on here most much more knowledgable than me, enjoy and good luck

What’s everyone routine? Is it best to put your system bets on the Friday am and Tues am when the sheets come out? Or should you wait for when you actually want to place the bet?

I always try to hit the prices on the sheets as this is what the systems have been built around, I can usually do this without many issues.

Like Neil, this was my first year with Ultimate although I have carried on now the football has resumed. Again like Neil I am very pleased with results, I started with a set bank and divided this equally over 4 different systems. (As it was my first year I decided whist I got to understand Ultimate, that I would just use 4 of the systems already provided rather than look for my own).

I then split each of the 4 banks into points on my perceived risk of each system. During my time with FTS I have learnt from Ian that it is all about the long haul so I wanted enough points in each of the 4 system banks to get me through a complete season even if a system had a bad year. I am conservative by nature and may have split the system banks into too many points as none of them even went near a large drawdown. (Largest drawdown on a system bank was 27%)

Over the season my combined 4 system banks have grown by just under 25% (System 1 up 1.57% . System 2 up 42.11%,  system 3 up 41.95% and system 4 up 9.51%)

I found 4 systems comfortable to manage but it is so, so important to have a bank that you set aside and are prepared to loose. Carry on the systems you choose for the whole season and see it through. Do not change systems if you feel one is not doing well. Example system 2 was my best system with a 42% gain on its bank over the season yet its first 3 months from August to end of October it was down each month so by the end of October it had lost 22% of its bank. It would have been easy to panic and make a knee jerk reaction and replace it with another system. As Ian says you have to be in it for the long haul.

When you start spend some time looking at how the systems you choose have done over the last 3 or 4 years. Work your points out on that look at the drawdowns over a few years and make sure you have a bank that covers double the worse drawdown is my advice. The hardest part for me, in the beginning, was getting the prices matched that the system showed on a Friday morning. I learnt to put them in at that price and leave them waiting if not matched. It is surprising how many end up getting matched before kick-off. Especially if the game is not until the Saturday or Sunday.

Good luck and enjoy.
